Big Pokemon News Breaks – Pokemon Sun and Moon Coming

It’s been 20 years since Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green launched, and for the brand’s anniversary, a new generation of Pokemon games are being announced. Nintendo Direct did a live presentation today and shared what’s to come for the iconic brand.

Holidays 20616 will bring the arrival of two new Pokemon games: Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Each will bring new adventures, new Pokemon and a whole new world to discover, promises Nintendo. Also available in the new Pokemon games is a transfer ability. Players will be to use their Pokemon from Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow into their version of copy of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. You’ll also be able to transfer Pokémon from the games Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y. Players can do this using Pokemon Bank. More information on Pokemon Bank may be found at the feature’s official site.

Using Pokémon Bank, you’ll be able to transfer Pokémon you’ve caught in the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console versions of  Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y can also be brought into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the same way.

“The Pokémon core series games are the centre of the Pokémon universe and provide some of the most memorable Pokémon moments for our fans,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “I can’t wait to see what fans think of the new adventures they’ll find in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.”

What’s also new in the Pokemon world of games is the language compatibility that arrives with the new titles. Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are the first releases to provide nine languages for players.  The languages will be English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish, plus Traditional and Simplified Chinese. This new feature makes the games more accessible than ever, which makes sense as Pokemon is a popular global brand.

The trademarks for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon leaked yesterday, so we knew this was coming, but it was still nice to confirm the existence of the upcoming games, especially as we celebrate such a momentous anniversary for Pokemon.

We also recently got news about a new legendary Pokemon, Magearna, who is man-made and referred to by The Pokemon Company International as the Artificial Pokemon. He’ll make his debut in this summer’s new Pokemon movie. No news yet if he’s to appear in the two upcoming Pokemon games, but it’s a good guess that he will be one to catch.

For now the company has made a landing page for the new Pokemon games, where players can check for new information.

Watch the trailer for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon below. You’ll get a very small look at the production process at the end.

The previous Pokemon game announcement was on February 18, 2016, when the company shared a trailer for Pokken Tournament, the Pokemon arcade fighting game, arriving March 18, 2016 for WiiU. The game was previously released in Japanese last summer, and has elements of Tekken fight style.
